One of the biggest surprises after becoming a mom was how little I understood about newborn sleep.
Before my daughter arrived, I imagined she would sleep through the night after a few weeks.

By the time babies reach ten to twelve weeks, some begin developing more predictable patterns.
Others don't.
Every baby is different.
One mistake I made was constantly comparing my daughter to babies I saw online.
One mom would claim her newborn slept eight hours straight.
Another would share a perfect sleep schedule.
Meanwhile, I was lucky to get two uninterrupted hours.
Those comparisons only made me feel worse.
The reality is that newborn sleep varies dramatically.
What matters most is whether your baby is healthy, feeding well, growing appropriately, and following guidance from your healthcare provider.
I also learned that sleep isn't just about the baby.
Parents need sleep too.
There were nights when I felt completely overwhelmed.
The lack of sleep affected my emotions, patience, and confidence.
I started second-guessing everything.
What helped most wasn't finding a magic sleep solution.

When I stopped expecting perfection, I felt less stressed.
